ABOUT GHARP

The Greater Horn of Africa Rainwater Partnership (GHARP) is a regional network of National Rainwater Associations (NRWA) in the Greater Horn of Africa (GHA) involved in promotion of Rainwater Harvesting & Management (RHM) systems and complementary technologies for improving water supply & sanitation, health & nutrition, food security, enterprises creation, environmental management, adaptation to climate change and sustainable livelihoods. It was formally established in March 2001.

Current partners are:

  • Ethiopian Rainwater Harvesting Association (ERHA)

  • Kenya Rainwater Association (KRA)

  • Rainwater Association of Somalia (RAAS)

  • Rainwater Harvesting Association of Tanzania (RHAT)

  • Uganda Rainwater Association (URWA)

It is envisaged that other country associations in the Greater Horn of Africa will join the Partnership to further strengthen the network.

GHARP Governing Council 
GHARP Chairperson is currently Mr. David M. Mburu The governing board members are:

  • Mr. David M. Mburu  (KRA)

  • Mr. Paito Obote (URWA)

  • Mr. Sorsa Natea (ERHA)

  • Prof. Henry Mahoo (RHAT)

GHARP Secretariat 
The GHARP secretariat is hosted by the Kenya Rainwater Association (KRA) in Nairobi, Kenya. The Secretariat is fully operational and consists of the following personnel:
