First Dinner Parties = Success!
Kenyan-themed dinner parties – as a way to encourage donations to Kenya Rainwater Association?? Well it was our plan to encourage international enthusiasm for our Global Giving Fundraising Challenge for August, which started on 1st August and is still continuing until the end of the month: http://www.gharainwater.org/gg-challenge/ Our goal is to raise $4,000 for a school rainwater harvesting and irrigation system for Matuiku Primary School, Nyandarua North district of Kenya.
The dinner party concept was designed to a) help people raise money in a fun and edible way!! b) ensure that even those who could only give a little, could still take part, and c) encourage understanding about Kenyan food, culture, and music! The idea being, that by understanding more about Kenya, people would feel closer to our cause and the people they are generously assisting.
The results so far have been really positive! One dinner party host from Devon in the UK said: ‘ We had our first Kenyan dinner last night and one of the best nights we’ve had in Devon. Your recipes were so simple to follow and the quiz was great fun. Everyone should try it ….’
And in a mountain village, Barcelonnette, in France, a dinner party was in full swing last week with background music consisting of Kenyan tune of the moment, ‘Kigeugeu’, and plates piled high with sausages! It couldn’t fail…See some photos below!
Coming up… a dinner party in Singapore, and quite a few in London, UK! Sign up and join in the fun – you know you want to!
And thanks to all those dinner party hosts and attendees so far – your support is invaluable!
